ROME CAPITAL OF THE SEVENTH ART: BACK "CINEMA AL MAXXI"
Until March 29, 2017 the MAXXI in Rome will host "Cinema al MAXXI", the event dedicated to the seventh art that over the years has attracted thousands of visitors to the capital. The strong point of the event is its particular organizational formula, which presents the characteristics of the festival, the festival and the film forum. During the weeks will be given ample space to the screening of shorts of young artists, but there will also be premieres, great classics of film and films for families. The 2017 edition is divided into five sections: Extra, Exhibit, MAXXI Doc, Shortsleague and Alice Family.
Every Wednesday evening in the "Extra" section
the previews of the most anticipated films of the season will be projected, in the original language and with subtitles, among them some films presented during the last Rome Film Festival, while the "Shortsleague" section will propose the best Italian short films of the last seasons, in a real contest at the end of which the most loved short will receive the "Shortsleague 2017" award. The "Exhibit" section, on the other hand, is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The cinematographic works presented are connected to two particular MAXXI exhibitions: the first is "The Japanese House. Architecture and life from 1945 to today "and is dedicated to the centrality of the project of the house in modern Japan; the second is "Please Come Back. The world as a prison? ", Which presents the prison as a metaphor for the contemporary world. The documentaries are the protagonists of the "MAXXI Doc" section, which in three events will propose three projections, two of which in collaboration with Istituto Luce Cinecittà. Finally, the "Alice Family" section is dedicated to families and children, with a program of documentaries, previews and contemporary animation films not only from Italy, but from all over Europe. "Cinema at the MAXXI" is part of the "CityFest" program, the cultural initiative organized by the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, which involves the territory of the Capital and the region with a series of events that see the participation of people from the art world and of culture.
